A wedding in Lesvos is an occasion for music and dance, and much traditional ritual. Before she leaves her home, the Bride is dressed by her family and bridesmaids, who then dance round her and sing her praises and good wishes for her future.
This photograph, sent to me by a friend, shows the Bride being taken to Church by her father.
They are preceded by the musicians, playing the Bride's Patinada (walking tune). This is usually music in four-beat time, like a slow Syrtos, but played so that it is easy to walk to.
